“In the neighbourhood streets of Sai Ying Pun, two Italian chefs — Alessandro and Luca — shared a simple ambition: to create the kind of place they missed from their home in Italy, right in the heart of Hong Kong.
Both had built their reputations in the city’s most respected fine dining kitchens, yet longed for something warmer and more personal. They were inspired by the vibrant, communal spirit of Hong Kong’s local eateries—the shared tables, the familiar chatter, the sense of belonging. They envisioned a restaurant where that same neighbourhood warmth met the conviviality of Italian life; where guests linger over handmade pasta, share bottles of wine, and chat about “la dolce vita” – the sweet life.
LucAle was born from their partnership and their names — a blending of friendship, a passion for their craft, and a deep respect for their adopted home.
Here, cooking is rooted in tradition yet alive with a subtle modern sensibility. Handmade pastas, carefully sourced Italian ingredients, and thoughtful wine pairings form the heart of the menu.
